Post Council Vote: Reforming the Council
This vote is in two parts.

Should the currently absent members of the Council (Shingen and Tim) be retired giving more active people a chance at joining the Council?

1. Yes.
2. No.

If you voted Yes, which nominated people would you like to join the Council?
You must choose two of the nominated persons, or no one.

1. DojiTensai.
2. Matknuck.
3. Curseword69.

4. No one.

I'd be tempted to propose option #4: do not replace them.

A five-man council would probably be most effective at getting the job done. Then if you want to involve more people, make the seats rotating seats or something.

Yes.

I'd endorse 2 & 3.

(Having been on the council) I'd propose that the option of reducing the council to five persons be added as another section to the vote, and be considered officially. Seems like five is the magic number between getting things done and having broad enough coverage.

Two former members is enough for me to add it to the selection.

I'm torn between adding people I know would be a positive addition and keeping the group small.

In the end, I'm going to lean to the two people I know (and no slight is intended to Tensai, but I've been on PT with Matt, a fellow Ratling fan also, and Paul has been a big part of the L5R community for as long as I can remember).

I would like to add that if we do balloon up to 7 again, we should make sure that our email is accessible to Yamakori, so he can drop us a line if we're absent and miss the start of a vote. During the sometime dead spells on here, its easy to miss something unintentionally.

I nearly didn't vote for Matt, just for this reason.

Personally I want a larger rather than smaller council. Five members strikes me as too small a group. Seven members seems to make for a reasonably broad group.

I do not have any particular opinion on how large or small the council should be. Most votes (all?!) seem to have a clear majority, and really, as long as there is an appropriate amount of discussion and debate when called for, 3 people could probably do the job (though I think we can all agree that 1 person is a bad idea).

The argument that I make in favor of a larger council (and one that includes me!) is that people (again me!) will be more active in playing/exploring/promoting the format if they have a more clear attachment to it, as it were.

Plus when people go AWOL, we've at least got a good solid pool of people to draw on meaning we can do the votes without them. If we drop the number down, and a couple of people go missing, it'll be hard to resolve a vote in a reasonable way.

I would like to keep the Council at seven members for the same reasons Yamakori expressed above.

Well, I'm voting 1 & 3 also.

Not that I don't love Matt. Having him around brings back memories of the old Warrens. But Paul's expressed interest in having more input previously. And Tensai's been a regular contributor for a while now.

But that's all 5 currently active Council member accounted for.

5 votes for Paul.
3 votes for Matt.
2. votes for Tensai.

So that means Paul and Matt are officially members of the Council. Welcome aboard.
