Post Council Vote: AFR
We all know what this is about...

1. Keep A Favor Returned as is.

2. Make A Favor Returned interchangeable with Border Keep.

3. Ban A Favor Returned.

I'm in favor of a simple, tidy solution:

Ban AFR; its time has passed.

(BTW, I'm as yet on the fence about Market v. Marketplace. Still mulling and looking to see where other votes fall.)

Ban it.

Since I'm voting to ban also, and we need a superior majority (5) of council members to pass a ban by our guidelines, we need one more vote.

Like JM, I know I don't get a vote but if I can sway things any, I'll reiterate what I posted once before.

As I said in another thread, don't you all already have a rule to cover this? You can just add one small blurb, as I suggested in that thread, to cover AFR, Arms Smugglers, and Bamboo Harvesters in one foul swoop without need to errata and ban. There are also a small % of decks that would likely benefit more from having AFR than Bamboo Harvesters.

I know I'm going to catch hell for saying this, but it's not like you haven't changed the rules of the game before (modifying the rules to prohibit both a Legacy holding and AFR during samurai, Undead <> Shadowlands). What's making one more minor edit?

Well, taikishi, I think it's more about uniformity of game-start.

BK/BH are the be-all, end-all now.

When Legacies were making starting Holdings have some variance, there was a place for AFR to sneak in as an option. Now, it's just a dead dinosaur with no place for it in this modern world.

I haven't gone on record, but for these same reasons, I'm in favor of keeping Legacy-search but keeping them out of game-start.

I'm fine with banning it. It is the easier solution.

And the motion is passed by a superior majority of council members.

AFR is now banned.

This will probably be rendered moot when the Legacy rules are rewritten for CE-compliance, but the Legacy Pregame Rules were never updated to include this banning.

That's because Mac is a slacker.

Can't even be bothered voting any more.
