Post Guerrilla Tactics
Hey. I was thinking of putting some Guerrilla Tactics in my deck and was wondering if AEG had made any kind of official statement on how it effects the story line. As the permanent shadowlands effect makes absolutely no sense and wasn't in the original draft of the card that we saw I'm guessing that it's more a game balance effect then a story line one. Can anyone help me out with this?

It's not going to win you a pure victory. But the chances of it giving you a corrupted victory are pretty low, unless you make a point of it, or repeatedly taint the same character.

Eh. That's pretty much what I expected. :(

The thing is, it is a great general purpose card. Battle actions are at a premium in my deck, so one that takes out 2 cards of my choice is hard to turn down. Other then Into the Darkness, how do you get around using them?

You could run Jade Petal Tea but that's just going to convolute your deck with actions that don't do too much. I'd be careful in general of running things in your deck that not only give you taint but dishonor you. There's WAY too much "mess with dishonored folk" tech nowadays.

In short, there's plenty of awesome Battle Actions for us to run. Seriously, my deck has 30 Battle Action cards.

For Offensive Actions there's basicly 3 major categories... PK, Send Home and Bowing. Very few actions deal with 2 (or more) people at once, which seems to be what you're looking for. You're not going to find many that do this, and if you're going for a pure win, don't expect many cards that will. Instead look at what tricks the card can do.

Into the Darkenss does deal with 2. And it's a solid card.
Draw Your Blade can punch throug attachments and bow the personality. It's a good card.
I Know That Trick. It'll either nuke a big personality, or if you're facing follower tokens, it just mows through them.
Crippling Cut is a good send home action with a solid cantrip on it.
The Bear Returns is getting more useful for dealing with Deeds decks, since most peeps in the deck are tiny. And it's anti-dueling trick is nice too.

The list goes on. Bow Your Head. Refugees. Clumsy Ambush (which can potentially deal with more than 1 person). Precise Strike. Heavily Engaged. Tsukuri (also dueling meta).

Plenty of solid actions. :)

Actually, GT is a very good battle action. There is very little that can substitue well for it. I would go with Refugees and put Naming the True Evil in your dynasty. It is very effective against Guerilla Tactics.

I know that trick works fairly well also.

Guerrilla Tactics is a card suffering from story/card incongruity. We all know what the tactic is, and the card picture and flavour show it acurately. It's dishonourable too, so that makes sense.

But then you have giant oni's with the highest force in the game. Basically a ranged attack guaranteed to kill anything. Besides the printed actions on cards like Hasaiki and Sentei.

The best way to stop it? Gain the Shadowlands trait as a cost. Purely mechanical decision. That's fine, but call it "Call Upon Evil", or something. Oh well.

We all know that mechanically, it doesn't fit what the card should represent. We know this. We know it's silly.

But unfortunately, that doesn't change the card.

*Shrug*

Maybe it'll get fixed in Samurai Edition. I doubt it, but you never know.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Shoten Dogi's Fury and Gurrellia Tactics REALLY need to switch names. That would make both of them finally make sense.

Except that the picture of G.Tactix is of Ranged Attacks...
