Post Ronin Boxes
So I confess, I've never bothered to examine the Ronin boxes in Legacy, but the banning of them from Celestial play leaves me puzzled.

Are they overpowered in that format? More importantly, are they overpowered in this format?

I cannot imagine we would need to ban them, but I am now officially curious. Super Ashigaru deck with guys on 1 or something?

Lost Traveler Castle was getting to be pretty good in CE but I definitely don't think it's broken or even the best deck. I think they were banned more for the story interaction with their new megagame than for balance issues.

Sunrise Keep certainly didn't warrant banning, essentially anything you want to do out of that would probably be more effective out of a box that does something (a la the Crab Ronin deck that won Euros and Top4d GenCon).

As far as Legacy goes, I think they are fine. They offer up some new interactions (Lost Traveler Castle with Lady Kitsune, for a random example) but there are some major drawbacks as well.

I do have the workings of a Legacy Sunrise Keep deck that I think could be reasonably good, but it seems like a semi-dangerous novelty more than anything.

I can't see any danger from any of the factionless strongholds and support allowing all of them being legal in Legacy.

Hell, originally we were considering letting in the first Draft SH until word came in from on high that it was a no no.

I've been experimenting with the box some this weekend, and while it lends itself to some pretty potent early game thrusts, I don't really see it as anything over the top.

Funny note. Burn the Village seems to be having an insane effect on our local legacy field. Suddenly Horde (or anyone running lots of free gold) have an even greater advantage. Helps stop annoying Kami decks and other things, too. Big winner seems to be Ninja. Well, Ninja and this one stupid honor deck.

So if it wasn't a chase rare before....

So what about the new proxy stronghold? Will that be allowed indefinitely in Legacy as well?

I'm thinking it'll be legal as long as AEG says it is.

If they revoke it, it'll get thrown in with the Draft SH's.

If AEG say no, that's pretty much it. Mac would have more insight on it.
